Main syllabus
ICSE & ISC
ICSE stream prepares children for the Board exams offered by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, I.C.S.E (for Standard 10) and I.S.C (for Standard 12). At both levels, Riverside offers one of the widest choices of subjects covering Mathematics, Sciences, Commerce, Humanities, Art, Sports, Dance and Music related subjects. ICSE is considered the premium of all syllabi offered in India. It is ranked higher in terms of its proficiency when compared to CBSE and other State Board syllabuses in India. It is a well-rounded syllabus, that caters to the overall growth of a child and gives the school the freedom to incorporate additional resources were necessary for the betterment of the children.
NIOS
The school also offers the opportunity for students to attempt the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for both the 10th and the 12th Grades as an in-house and a long distance program. Interested parents are requested to contact the school directly for more information on this program.
Co-Academia
Special Education
Riverside believes in an inclusive system of education and caters to students irrespective of their academic capabilities. There is an extensive special education program for those with learning difficulties. Extra remedial work is also offered for those who require it.
Competitive Exams Program
We also have an accelerated program for children with high academic capability which includes training them to take on competitive examinations. In-house programs encourage children to appear for the National Talent Search Exams (NTSE) at a very young age. Dedicated in-house programs are also run for those children who are keen on writing entrance exams for any particular field. These includes Engineering (IIT and Other universities), Medicine (AIPMT, NEET and others), Law (CLAT), Humanities (IIT, TATA etc.), NDA and U.S universities (SAT).
IIT Integrated
Riverside is the first Residential School in The Nilgris to offer an in-house integrated IIT curriculum. Students from Std. VII and above are encouraged to take up this course to prepare themselves, for the mainstream IIT competitive exam in the long run. Children are evaluated systemically to ensure overall productivity in this programme.
ACCA Association of Charted Certified Accountants
Riverside also has in place, a unique program, for aspiring Commerce, Management, Economics and Accounts students. Commerce students in Grade. XI are offered an additional in- house accountancy programme that helps complete part of the Chartered Accountancy courses in school, thus enabling them to have a dual degree as they complete their under graduation.

All the above courses have specific allocated time called excellence periods, which fall outside the normal school time-table and are effectively and continuously monitored.
