About Riverside

Riverside Public School is a secular, co-educational, day and residential school dedicated to the idea of empowering children to confidently face the world. It was founded in the year 2000 by the Riverside family based out of The Nilgiris to serve the local community in and around Nilgiris. Over time due to its dedication to excellence and its alternative education models, it gained prominence and now serves over 950 children every year from the kindergarten to the Senior Secondary.

At the core of the DNA at Riverside is it’s intent to be a school that is always evolving with the times we live in. In the words of the Managing Director Mr Kavin Kumar Kandasamy “Children are the very fabric of the future we weave and if we do not invest in them, we are not investing in our future”. We believe that every child is capable of achieving clarity of their purpose in life. Whether in the field of academics, sports, arts or music, we believe that every child has inherent talents that we strive to unearth and foster through individual attention. No matter how off-beat, they are encouraged to excel in their chosen fields, leading to a sense of self-belief and confidence.

Riverside Public School is located near the town of Kotagiri in the scenic mountain chains of The Nilgiris. Its serene beauty is captured throughout the 13-acre campus, that serves as home to fauna of all kind along with our 300 dedicated staff and 900+ students. The school is divided into two campuses the Junior Block and the Senior Block. The school maintains a ratio of 65% residential and 35% day scholars to maintain the diversity of the place. Over many years Riverside has gained recognition for its pioneering models in education, by being the first school to implement 3D printing as a curriculum in India to incorporating ACCA for the first time in a residential school in India.

In this drive towards excellence, the school is well aware of the need to have discipline and children are encouraged to achieve this from within rather than by enforcement. Also important is the need to socialize and empathize. An extensive program extending from the kindergarten to the 12th grade is in place to ensure that all this happens.

To have a happy childhood is one of life’s greatest blessing and every effort is made to create an atmosphere free of fear, prejudice, partiality and categorization. So we are not surprised to often hear – “Oh! The children here are very happy!”.
