STUDENT RULES, REGULATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Rules and regulations provided here will give you a clear idea of the framework in place for a fruitful schooling experience. At Riverside Public School, we insist on courtesy to peers, courtesy to staff and courtesy to the wider community. At all times, in and out of the school campus behavior should be directed by common sense and decency. Riverside students are expected to carry themselves within the values instilled in them at school in and out of the school.
ATTENDANCE & LEAVE
• Students are expected to maintain 100% attendance. Leaves are to be taken only with prior permission and in case of any emergencies, you are expected to inform the school during your course of absence either via phone, mail or in person. Reporting after absence without any proper justification will not be entertained. Submission of a Leave Letter is Mandatory.
BEHAVIOUR & DISCIPLINE
• On campus you are expected to maintain the sanctity and integrity of the school by not involving in any misdeeds/ misbehavior and offences. If found, corrective measures and disciplinary action will follow.
• In case of repeated misdeeds / offences etc., a disciplinary committee consisting of the Principal, the Vice - Principal, the concerned section co-ordinator and the sports co-ordinator would investigate and issue warnings if necessary. In extreme cases, parents would be called ta the school to discuss the problem and thereafter, expulsion or suspension of the student would be contemplated.
BULLYING
• Fighting and bullying — (including harassment) is a serious offence and should be reported immediately.
• Riverside Public School has a comprehensive Anti-Bullying Policy which is explained in detail in the later stages and students are requested to read through that for awareness and guide.
CLASSES & SPECIAL CLASSES
• Students are expected to attend their classes as described in their respective timetables. In case of absence from the class, permission should be obtained from the respective Section - Coordinators & Class Teachers with the permission slips given in the students’ diary, Failure to doso will result in no additional support being offered for the classes that the student has missed which could result in lower performance scores
UNIFORM & APPEARANCE
• You must be properly dressed in full uniform as defined in the uniform schedule given in the diary. Students are expected to come to school dressed neatly and groomed well.
• If you have not received your uniform or have issues due to misplacement/theft/ washing delays or if your uniform has worn out, you are expected to approach your respective dorm parents for support and in case of day scholars you are expected to approach the office who will obtain the necessary permission from your parents to issue the same to you.
• Shoes for specific Sports as required have to carried to school in a separate bag and worn only on the games field. Please contact the sports co-ordinator before investing in any Sports shoe. Please avoid buying expensive shoes.
IDENTITY CARDS (ID CARDS)
• All students will be issued a student RFID card that is not only used for. identification but for other purposes at the library, canteen and so forth.
• Students should keep their ID cards on them at all times and use it in an appropriate manner.
• When traveling outside representing the school, it is mandatory for students to wear their identity cards.
• Lost ID cards must be returned to the Residential Coordinator and those seeking their lost ID cards can pick it up from the Coordinator with a letter for release.
• If ID cards are lost and cannot be found new ID cards will be issued at an additional cost and a letter requesting new release should be provided for the same.
DRIVING & RIDING
• No student is permitted to ride a motorbike or drive an automobile to school. If found, necessary action will prevail.
• Bicycles are permitted with prior permission from the front office, who will give you a parking bay for the same. If there is a change of bicycle, that should also be. notified and permission should be obtained again. A parking sticker would be pasted on the bicycle and should remain until the student wishes to stop using the bicycle to School
• Students can ride only to the main gate and are expected to push the bicycle to the parking bay.
TRANSPORT
• Students are expected to be at the boarding point five minutes prior to the scheduled arrival of the school vehicle. Late arrivals will not be entertained and the school bus will not wait to pick you up. You are expected to value the time of others waiting for you in the vehicle.
• Please note that it is very difficult to change the pick-up and drop-off areas for you at short notice. Parents need to obtain prior permission with ample time from the office to change drop off location.
• Places are not reserved for anyone in the school buses. Students are advised to board the bus on time and be accommodative to the fellow students who are in the bus.
• Noise, unwanted movement and playing can be irritating to the driver and others travelling by bus. It can be a cause for accidents and therefore be advised you are expected to maintain silence or speak softly with minimum movement. If there is continuous misbehaviour on the bus, bus privileges can be withheld for day-scholars and they would be required to come in with their parents.
BIRTHDAYS & CELEBRATIONS
• Children are not permitted to wear colour clothing on their birthday as it has been found to be very distracting for the rest of the students. Sweets may be distributed at break times. These are also available in the school store if needed.
• During festivals and other celebrations, the school will make an announcement on the dress code and permissions for colour clothing Until then you are expected to be only in school uniform.
ELECTRONIC ITEMS
• Students are not permitted to have in their possession, electronic gadgets, mobile. phones and expensive watches, jewellery, perfume and deodorant sprays (roll-ons are allowed). The school is not responsible for the loss of the same. If there is a requirement of certain items like a camera (for the members of the photography club), please ensure that it is handed over to the school office and registered. Any banned item will be confiscated and not returned.
FORBIDDEN ITEMS
• All offensive and replica weapons, fireworks, knives (including art/craft knives), chewing gum, tobacco and associated implements (including lighters), alcohol, radios, laser pointers and pornography are forbidden. If found with any of these items you will be immediately suspended by the disciplinary committee.
FOOD ITEMS & WATER
• No food items of any sort including sweets (other than for birthdays) and chocolates should be sent. Hygienic Water is provided on all buses and various points in school so students should not carry water to school.
LITTER
• Keep the grounds clean-place the litter in bins, and pick up any litter you see. Food and drink from outside are not permitted in the campus. Students defying this rule and caught in the act of litter will have negative marks in their behavioral evaluation.
LATE TO SCHOOL
• If you arrive late to school, you must report to the school office, obtain the necessary permission and then move to the classes with the permission slip. Repeated late comers will be referred for disciplinary action. If you have any difficulties that cause the delay, seek the office for any help and assistance.
LEAVE FROM SPORT
• Sports is an integral part of your education at Riverside. Students who do not show up for sports will be treated on par with that of academics and evaluations will reflect the same. Leave from specific sports due to injuries will have to be reported to the Coach and the Sports Co-ordinator.
LOST PROPERTY
• If you find any misplaced or lost property, you are expected to morally hand it over to the Residential Co-ordinator in the office.
• Students who are looking to claim their lost property will have to justify their property and after thorough verification, it will be returned to them.
OUT-OF-BOUNDS
• You must remain within the school grounds during the whole school day. Keep away from all out-of-bounds areas and dangerous places like electricity room etc.,
• Students should not stand at the edge of the field or jump on the staircase and beyond the fence and so forth.
THEFT
• At Riverside, there is a zero tolerance demonstrated towards theft. If you steal, your place in the school will be reviewed. Students must keep vigil over their goods and not give room for such activity.
• A disciplinary committee will preside over the necessary measures for students indulging in such untoward activities.
