Greetings and Warm wishes from Riverside!
I am delighted to pen a few lines for the year 2017 – 2018. I thank the Management, especially Mr. Kavin Kumar Kandasamy, the Managing Director, an Alumnus of the prestigious Montfort school at Yercaud and my student, for giving me this opportunity to share my knowledge and experience in this great institution. I would like to assert that great institutions require greater dedication, involvement, commitment and hard work to set higher standards year after year.
Gone are the years when scoring centum in Mathematics or Chemistry or Physics was the criterion of students caliber. With national exams like NEET, JEE, UPSC, coming in to decide the career of our children, what is required is a great level of in-depth understanding of various subjects in our curricula. National syllabi like the ICSE, ISC and NIOS which develop critical thinking and an analytical mind and not just rote memorization is the need of the hour.
Holistic education must be our watchword. The development of mind, body, and soul is essential in total man making. My experience during the 40 odd years in Schools of great repute had taught me that total human making involves a balanced approach between academics and co-curricular especially sports activities with training in personality and leadership development. One should learn to be an integral part of the community and Riverside instills that in all children under its care.
A sound mind in a sound body goes the saying. We need balanced, patriotic, enlightened women and men for the future. Only through holistic development one can achieve a sound mind and especially a healthy body. We see youngsters of this generation having serious metabolic disorders especially because of lack of physical activities. Exercising every day must be a part of every child’s schedule and they must be taught to carry the same forward into their adult lives. Such habits and discipline ensure that our children are well prepared for the challenges that future holds for them. Keeping in line with our VISION 2020 at Riverside we are working progressively towards ensuring that our children are raised to adapt to the dynamics of the future, whilst paving their way towards excellence.
I greatly admire this Holistic approach at Riverside and pray that God will lead us to greater glory in the years to come.
As I assume office as the Principal of Riverside, I am sure that our team will leave no stone unturned to give the best for your child during his/her stay with us. Our children must be trained to be global citizens and in this angle, Riverside is much blessed. As the tides of education change, we intend to see Riversiders march along into the sands of time as happy children and victors trained in their pursuit of excellence through our pioneering education model. We look forward to welcoming you to an excellent 2017 -18.
..Excellence is not an act, but a habit Aristotle.
